Who we are

CCTV Installer Kent is a service-area CCTV and security systems business serving customers across Kent. For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 we are the data controller for the personal information described on this page.

What we collect

When you contact us or request an estimate
Your name, email address, telephone number, the property postcode if you give it, and whatever you tell us about the work you need.
When you call us
This site uses a call-tracking service, which records the telephone number you called from, the number you dialled, the time and duration of the call, and how you arrived at the site. This lets us tell which of our pages generate genuine enquiries.
When you browse the site
Standard technical information such as pages viewed, the page that referred you, approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic device and browser information.
If you become a customer
The installation address, details of the system installed, and records relating to the work, quotations and invoicing.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To answer your enquiry and provide a quotation — because you have asked us to, and because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
  • To carry out work you have booked — performance of a contract.
  • To keep records of work carried out, quotations and invoices — legal obligation, and our legitimate interest in being able to support systems we have installed.
  • To understand which pages and adverts produce enquiries — our legitimate interest in running the business efficiently. We have considered your interests and use the minimum data necessary.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without asking you first.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is necessary:

  • Service providers who operate parts of the site on our behalf, including our website host and our call-tracking and lead-tracking provider.
  • Our accountants and professional advisers, where relevant.
  • Anyone we are legally required to disclose to, such as HMRC, a regulator, or in response to a valid legal request.

If your enquiry needs to be passed to another installer in order to be answered, we will tell you before we do it. See our referral marketing disclosure.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not lead to work — normally up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Customer and installation records — normally 6 years after the last work carried out, which matches the period we may need them for accounting, warranty and liability purposes.
  • Website analytics and call-tracking data — retained according to our providers’ standard retention periods.

CCTV footage

We install CCTV systems; we do not routinely monitor, hold or control the footage they record. Once a system is handed over, the person or business operating it is the data controller for the recordings it produces, and is responsible for signage, retention periods and responding to requests for footage. If a system covers areas beyond the boundary of your own domestic property, UK data protection rules apply to you as its operator. We will point this out where it is relevant, but we cannot give you legal advice.

Where we need temporary access to footage or a recorder in order to diagnose a fault, we access only what is necessary for that purpose and do not retain copies.

Cookies and tracking

This site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies for call tracking, lead attribution and website analytics. Analytics cookies are not set until you accept them on the cookie notice, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings; the site will continue to work either way.

Where analytics are used, IP addresses are anonymised and we do not use the data for advertising or share it with advertising networks.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict how we use it, object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests, and receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these, contact contact@cctvinstallerkent.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, by calling 0303 123 1113, or by writing to Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. We would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page.
