How the business started

CCTV Installer Kent grew out of the day-to-day security work of founder Daniel Mercer, who moved into CCTV and electronic security after training as an electrical and communications technician. The business has been working across Kent since 2014. Working around Maidstone, Medway and the wider county, he kept meeting customers who had been sold systems that were either more complicated than they needed or simply wrong for the building.

The idea behind the business was straightforward: look properly at the site, explain the choices in plain English, and fit equipment the customer can actually operate. That is still how we work.

Certification and cover

We are an SSAIB certificated company and carry public liability insurance on every job — ask and we will send you both certificates before work starts. SSAIB is a UKAS-accredited certification body for security systems installers, which means our work and our processes are independently inspected against recognised standards rather than self-declared. How we approach a job

Most security problems are specific. A shop worried about the till area, a landlord dealing with repeated fly-tipping at a bin store, a homeowner who wants to see who is at the side gate — these need different answers, and more cameras is not always one of them.

So we start with the areas you actually need to protect and work backwards to camera positions, lens choice, lighting, cable routes, recording capacity and whether alarms or access control belong in the picture at all. Then we tell you what we would do and why, before anything is fitted.

What we install and support

• CCTV installation — domestic and commercial systems, planned around coverage rather than camera count.
• CCTV repairs — cameras dropping out, poor images, recording faults, damaged cabling and connection problems.
• CCTV maintenance — routine checks so the footage is usable on the day you need it.
• Security systems — combining CCTV, alarms and access control where a camera-only system does not cover the risk.
• Access control — managing entry to doors, gates and restricted areas.
• Burglar alarms — intrusion detection for homes and commercial premises.

Where we work

We are a mobile service-area business covering Kent, including Maidstone, Dartford, Medway, Canterbury, Ashford, Gravesend, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells and Folkestone. We do not run a staffed public office — we come to the property, which is where any sensible security assessment has to happen anyway.
